Introduction
Ensure your network devices and services are available
Make sure your network services are up and running 24x7
VisualPulse continually monitors your network devices, routers, web pages and application ports, and alerts you to any potential problems.
Easy implementation, no fuss administration
With VisualPulse, you can start monitoring your critical devices within minutes and see immediate results. And the user-friendly web interface provides easy access with simplified administration.
Only pay for what you need
Whether you are a small business looking to monitor your entire network, or a large corporation looking to monitor individual business unit networks, the VisualPulse IP monitor software provides effective network management at a budget-friendly price. And with VisualPulse's tiered licensing, you only pay for the number of devices you want to monitor. See DesktopProfile for highly scalable deployment options.
VisualPulse is available in two popular editions to suit your needs:
|
VisualPulse Web Edition
Monitors your critical network devices, web pages and application ports |
VisualPulse Router Edition
Monitors router traffic, utilization and bandwidth, and network device availability |
KEY FEATURES:
- Web-based reports and administration
- Automated notification of excessive latency or system outage
- Real-time and historical reporting
- Standardized and customizable reporting
- Automated traceroute logging on alert conditions
- NEW! Effectively monitors ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) networks
Features
Web-based reports and administration
Easily share information across the enterprise with web-based reports, simplify your network management administration with remote access via a browser. Includes password-protected access with security options.
Automated notification of excessive latency or system outage
Threshold alerts provide instant notification of unacceptable reponse times so you can avoid or minimize costly outages. Problem notifications are indicated by color-coded reports, e-mail alerts and SNMP traps, thresholds may be set on a global or individual basis, includes optional Windows Event logging.
Real-time and historical reporting
Real-time reports enable quick identification of whether a performance problem is with the network or the web site, and where the problem is happening. Historical reports information provide visibility to performance trends over the the past hour, day, or month.
Standardized and customizable reporting
A variety of standard reports are available for easy reporting, such as an overall summary, last hour, last 24 hours, along with flexible user-defined options for custom reports.
Automated traceroute logging on alert conditions
Network routing and performance detail is recorded when slow response or an outage occurs, enabling analysis of performance problems regardless of when they occur. Optional integretion with VisualRoute Server provides on-demand routing performance information.
NEW! Effectively monitors ARP (Address Resolution Protocol) networks
ARP networks cause the initial ping response of a device to have increased latency values because it includes the overhead for the ARP route selection process. When configured for dual pings, VisualPulse will initiate 2 pings per device and ignore the first ping result so that latency of the second ping only is measured. The second ping uses the ARP cache and normalizes the ARP overhead.
Monitors up to 500 IP addresses simultaneously
Seemlessly monitors up to 500 IP addresses, allows 'aliases' of IP addresses for easy identification. To monitor more than 500 IPs, see DesktopProfile.
Exportable data
Performance data can be easily exported to HTML or Excel format for further analysis.
VisualPulse Web Edition Specific Features
Ensure your network devices, web pages and applications are available 24x7
- Web page response time -- HTTP and HTTPS measures provide latency and error percent information for text download of web pages
- Application ports -- TCP port monitoring reports the availability of critical TCP/IP services such as SNMP, FTP, POP3 and DNS
- Network IP device latency -- continous ping response reporting provides essential performance measures of network latency
- Network IP packet loss -- real-time and historical reports show where data packets are being lost
VisualPulse Router Edition Specific Features
Ensure your routers, firewalls and servers are up and running effectively
- Router, Firewall and Server network usage -- SNMP measurements provide vital traffic levels for ICMP, TCP, UDP and IP traffic
- Network IP device latency -- continous ping response reporting provides essential performance measures of network latency
- Router, Firewall and Server port utilization -- monitors SNMP device utilization levels, inbound and outbound bandwidth usage
- Network IP packet loss -- real-time and historical reports show where data packets are being lost
Requirements
VisualPulse Requirements
- 128Mb memory, 40Mb disk space, 1Ghz processor
- Internet Connection
- Any of the following operating systems and related java:
- Windows 2000/XP/2003
- Sun Java JRE (Java Runtime Environment) 1.1.8 or Microsoft JVM 1.1.4 build 3810 -- details
or
- Sun Solaris 2.5
- Sun JRE (Java Runtime Environment) 1.1.8 -- details
or
- Linux 2.2.5-15
- Java VM 1.1.8 -- detail
Java Requirements
Visualware's products are Java based, and require a Java VM (Virtual Machine). Refer to the requirements above for the minimum JVM required for your platform. It is strongly recommended that you keep your Java VM up to date by installing the latest version available for your platform. Subtle bugs are constantly being fixed, and new versions often have speed improvements over previous Java VM's.
Sun Java VM: Download and install the latest J2SE (Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition) JRE (Java Runtime Environment) for your platform, http://www.java.com/en/download/manual.jsp
To check if you already have Sun's JVM installed, or to find the version number:
- Open a DOS prompt and type java -version [enter]. If Sun's JVM is present it will give you a version number, or
- Go to http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.jsp
Microsoft Java VM: You can upgrade (new install not possible) your Microsoft Java VM by visiting http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com (or Start / Windows Update). Press the "Scan for Updates" button and then install the "Security Update: Microsoft Virtual Machine (Microsoft VM)" critical update.
Linux Java VMs: Any of the VMs listed below may be used. Other versions or vendors are not supported at this time.
